Sign that cryptocurrencies are doing well: they have become unavoidable, major financial institutions are turning more and more towards them. They realized that if they did not offer virtual currencies to their customers, they would lose a booming and extremely promising market.
So, after the GCE has announced that it will soon offer Bitcoin futures, it's Cboe's turn.
First of all, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe), or Global Market, is one of those well-established financial institutions. She is a direct competitor of the GCE.
It is therefore question that from December 10, its subsidiary Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE), offers its customers transactions on Bitcoin. As a result it will be a week ahead of its competitor.
In short, she wanted to attract as many investors as possible. To do this she has put in place a strategy. Among other things, she announced that during the month of December, all cryptocurrency exchanges would be free.
The president of Global has explained this decision:
"Given the unprecedented interest in Bitcoin," he said, "it's critical that we provide clients with the tools to negotiate to help them express their views and cover their exposure. We are committed to promoting equity and liquidity in the bitcoin market. To promote this, we will first offer XBT futures trading for free."
Thus on CFE futures on Bitcoin will be traded under the sign XBT. Contracts will be payable in USD. And the CFE will offer different offers from its competitor CME.
